On March 17, 2011, AeroVironment, Inc. (AV), was informed by the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) that AV’s Nano Hummingbird is now included in their Gallery of Notable Inventions.  The Nano Hummingbird joins the other 28 inventions of this Gallery; inventions that include an HIV Vaccine, Google, Segway and SpaceShipOne. As noted on their website, the criteria used by WIPO to select an invention for the Gallery is: the “importance or contribution of the invention or inventor,” and the “acknowledgment … [of the invention] … in the popular media.”
